If you live with someone, you probably know how it feels to live with them. You probably feel and see some small things that feel good to you. I don’t mean when someone cleans up after you or when they make you breakfast in the morning. Those things are special, but I mean what they really feel like: who they are and how they make home, home
I love my home. It’s in what folks would call an up-and-coming neighborhood. We didn’t know this neighborhood before we moved in. But a couple of years later, I couldn’t be happier. It’s such a beautiful neighborhood. I don’t know all of my neighbors. Actually, I don’t really know any of them. But you can just feel it. You can just tell — we all love this neighborhood.
And then there’s Golden Hill. It’s the place we fell in love with when we moved here. 92102. Golden Hill has an amazing butcher shop, a spectacular wine bar and bistro, and… what I’m saying is… we’re neighbors.
I live in Stockton, San Diego, CA 92102. We have a pet-grooming salon that opened up this year, and we have a mini-mart. There’s a very, very busy corner stand selling nutty coconut shaved ice drinks and tostilocos, of course. We’re making it happen, but who knows if they’ll make it, if they’ll be there next year.
My vision for this world is one where someone brings a steak, someone brings their dog, and another person brings themselves and their spirit. We celebrate each other’s gifts, and we share in the way that celebrates our culture and our ancestry.
We are makers, healers, dog groomers, vendors, and little dogs running around our street.
I want to make something, and I don’t know if my neighbors will accept it, but I know if they just tried it, they would know me.
I know there are folks like myself that are making something this world has never seen. If you feel this way about your neighborhood, someone you live with, someone within walking distance or a short car drive from you, that you know could change this world with their love and their passion for this planet its people; then I’d love to meet you.
This is everything,
